I went on top of the hill to get this. And yes the red is a mixture of smog and dust. We had a major wind storm come in the past few days and this is what we are breathing right now.
I seen this laying there and I wanted to grab the texture from the cigarette ashes. I am not keen on the smell of smoke so my patience was very little for a more fantastic shot of this.
The photographer was Jennifer Kouba (Sister-in-Law). I just placed different layers and composite them into one black and white with color in the middle giving it a focal point of the individuals and the roses. Did minor corrections of the blemishes and also clothing and of course lighting, hue and saturation.
I have never met 48 May, but I am a big fan of theirs. They are a New Zealand rock band and I just wanted to do something that to me seems like their style of art. Distorting mutliple pictures warping them and placing a lower opacity picture of the main guitarist in the middle brought the picture to life. So this is my interpitation of their style
